The Australian Academy of Science’s Shine Dome

The Australian Academy of Science’s Shine Dome and its custom-designed furniture were created to reflect the inquiring and innovative nature of science. It was the first Canberra building to be added to the National Heritage List, for its historical and architectural significance.

A Canberra landmark since its construction in 1959, the Shine Dome has received numerous awards and is one of seven projects the Royal Australian Institute of Architects has nominated to the World Register of Significant Twentieth Century Architecture.


Accommodation  – University House

1 Balmain Crescent, Acton

Accommodation has been secured at University House, ANU for at a discounted rate for conference attendees. University House is a short walk (approx 600m) from The Shine Dome.

Set within a leafy enclave, University House offers a pleasant sanctuary in a 1950s building with a perfect blend of heritage decor with modern facilities. Once the exclusive home to students and academics, the hotel provides guests with a warm, intimate atmosphere.



Queen Room (single occupancy) – $165 per night

Queen Room (double occupancy) – $170 per night.

You will be given the opportunity to secure a reservation booking during the online conference registration process. If you have already registered for the conference and wish to now make an accommodation booking please log back into the registration site using the username and password you had created.

Should you wish to extend your stay beyond the conference dates, please email the Conference Secretariat at advising of the check-in and check-out dates and the room type you require. KAIGI will then make the booking on your behalf.
